The Unit for the last couple of years have employed a member of the Deaf community to help out in the Unit. We are proud to say that Adrian Rynne has helped our students greatly and he continues to be a role model for our students. Adrian has been nominated for The Ireland Involved Award. Also we would like to congratulate our 2011 graduates who are in first year in college now. Please go to the ‘PAST STUDENTS’ tab to find out more about the unit for the Deaf and hearing impaired graduates.

The staff of the unit would also like to wish our Leaving Certificate and our Junior Certificate students good luck in the upcoming mock exams.

The Deaf Unit in Ennis Community College, last Christmas did some fundraising. They decided to make Christmas cards to sell. After a meeting with the Deputy Principal, Mr. Tiernan O’Donnell. They came up with an unusual design.

They went to a local printer shop called Copystop and with their help the sign language Christmas cards came into being. All staff and students of the Unit began to work together to make packs of Christmas cards to sell to staff and students.

They launched their cards in the 3rd of December which was also National disability Day. The project was a great success. The cards sold out in no time.

The Deaf Unit would like thank everyone for their support and a Happy New Year.
