New E-zine Connects the College Community

A new online newsletter has been launched for the Ennis Community College campus, which aims to keep readers abreast of the wide range of activity in its three schools.

The campus at Harmony Row is shared by Ennis Community College, Gaelcholáiste an Chláir and Ennis College of Further Education, which between them serve a population of learners ranging in age from 13 to 63.

Not only are there three schools, but there is also a variety of programmes within the schools, including Junior Certificate Schools Programme (JCSP), Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP), Transition Year, Leaving Certificate Applied, Post Leaving Certificate and the Orbital programme which builds regular field trips into the Junior Cert curriculum. And of course there are plenty of extra-curricular activities including sport, enterprise, music and drama.

All these programmes operate independently in the different schools and departmE-zineents. However, with so much going on, Business teacher Ms O’Callaghan felt that there was a great opportunity to share the news among staff, students and their families.

The new E-zine is available to download as a PDF on the school website. The first edition reports on a recent Table Quiz and a Careers Morning. Manual Handling Training, Jersey Day and “The Banner Banger” art project are just some of the recent events covered. Edited by Ms O’Callaghan, and with content in English and Irish, the newsletter will be published monthly and it is hoped that it will help the colleges’ community keep in touch with the wide range of activity on the Ennis campus.
