Events for Maths & Numeracy Week 2017

  • Each day there will be a maths problem placed on the noticeboards throughout the school as well as on the door of room 13.  Students will  answer these problems and return the answers to Mr Murphy in Room 13. The first person who gives the correct answer back to Mr Murphy will get a daily prize.
  • 2nd and 5th year students will be involved in the PRISM  problem solving competition.
  • 2nd year ECC students will be going on ORBITAL to complete the shopping task where they compare the prices of items from Aldi, Dunnes and Tesco to see which shop offers the best value.
  • Maths Eyes: All students are encouraged to open their “Maths Eyes” and begin to take pictures that can be submitted in the Poster Competition – All Maths teachers are assisting students with their entries but all Teachers are encouraged to participate as there is Maths in everything.​
  • ​All Maths teachers will be engaging their students in various activities and quizzes throughout the week such as the 15 Question Problem Solving activity.
  • Transition year students will creating origami shapes and will be engaging in a daily challenge with their teacher.
  • The 1st year Learning Support class have been working on fair games with dice, spinners etc. They will set up in the foyer for one break time to show these games to other students in the school.
  • Princess and Abena in 2nd Year will be formally presented with the prizes they  won in last years math eyes competition.
