Ennis Community College is getting ready to open its doors this week, when students will return to school on a phased basis. And this year they’ll have an opportunity to learn about the latest in digital media production and technology.

On Friday 26 August the school will open exclusively for the new First Year students who will be attending secondary school for the first time. Teachers will show the newcomers around and introduce them to their subjects, from 8:55 am until 12:30pm.

Full day schedules will begin from Monday, beginning with First Years, Third Years and Sixth Years on Monday 29 August. Second and Fifth years will join them from Tuesday 30 August and Transition Years on Wednesday 31 August.

The school is looking forward to another year of academic success and extracurricular achievement. Students excelled in Music, Art, Gaelic Football, Basketball, Camogie and Athletics last year. They saw success in Science and Engineering competitions, as well as in English and Irish writing.

The ORBITAL programme will continue, which integrates Junior Certificate study with field trips and outside resources for Second Year Students, and the College will begin a new ‘IT in the Classroom’ project funded by the EU Comenius Programme.

The College will begin a new chapter this September with the opening of its new state-of-the-art media room. Students and teachers will have access to the latest in digital media production hardware and software, including a drone for capturing aerial video footage.
