Ag Cur na Gaeilge Chun Cinn

Seachtain na Gaeilge got underway this week at Gaelcholáiste an Chláir and Ennis Community College as the schools organised a range of events to celebrate the Irish language and heritage.
The events included céilithe and table quizzes, and a special Maidin Ghaelach on Monday, when Second Year Community College students on the Junior Certificate Schools Programme prepared an Irish Breakfast for their year group.  Students enjoyed the traditional culinary delights associated with Ireland such as, ispiní,  sliciní bagún, uibheacha agus maróg. The students were encouraged to speak their cúpla focal while enjoying the event.  A similar event takes place on Friday for first year students.
On Thursday, first year students of Ennis Community College paid a visit to Coláiste Cholmcille, a secondary school in Indreabhán in the Galway Gaeltacht.  It is hoped that this visit will lead to future correspondence and joint activities between the two schools.
Of course, every week is Seachtain na Gaeilge at Gaelcholáiste an Chláir, but the school sees it as a great opportunity to let their Gaeilge shine.  The highlight of the Gaelcholáiste programme is a talent competition for Gaelcholáistí from all over Munster.  ‘Seó Tallainne na Mumhan’ will be held in Glór on Thursday 14 March at 1pm, hosted by Pádraig Ó Sé from Raidio na Gaeltachta and TG4.
